Welcome to the Mid City West Community Council

NC Friends or Foes

Did your City Councilmember yell "foul" when the City’s Budget and Finance Committee attempted to decimate the neighborhood council system? If neighborhood council members had held their tongues, do you think your City Councilmember would have fought a valiant battle to protect your interest?

The fact is your "collective" voice is the only protection you have. You must not rely on the good graces of others to save you. But be powerful enough to save yourself as well as your community.

The Valley Regional Congress committee knew it was time to take the next step toward empowerment. Come to the Valley Regional Congress and be part of the movement to transform City Hall.

We shall sort the friend of the neighborhood congress from the foe, by establishing report cards on public officials. Let us move our friends to higher positions, and uproot our enemies. Then and only then will we be free to focus on the task we love most dearly; serving our communities, protecting stakeholders interest, strengthening businesses, beautifying our communities, partnering with community based organizations, and preservation of our quality of life. We are the best asset of our Councilmembers!

Our time invested in the congress will increase our skills using technology that will transform how we communicate with our stakeholders. We can engage them through true e-democracy and reap the benefits of greater participation.

Be part of HISTORY, participate in the wiki discussion prior to the Valley Regional Congress go to http://valleyregionalcongress.wetpaint.com/  and let’s learn a whole new way to engage each other.

Recognition Award voting will close May 21st. Only current board members of the 31 neighborhood councils participating in the Valley Regional Congress may vote.

HAVE YOU REGISTERED YET? Don’t wait! http://www.valleyregionalcongress.org/
See you May 30th at Panorama High School, 8015 Van Nuys Blvd. Panorama City. (Lisa Cerda is Co-Chair of the Valley Regional Congress for neighborhood councils.)
