How Do I Get Involved?

There are many ways to get involved with our neighborhood council. Some are easier than you think! Read on below to find out how!

Attend our events — and bring your family and friends!

By far, the easiest way to get involved is to attend and enjoy our events!

We are striving to bring fun and engaging events that are relevant to our community.  We want to reach out to you and your attendance is important to us.  Bring your family and friends.  Stop by and say hello at one of our booths.  Let us know how we’re doing.  Join us!

Attend our board meetings!

Getting involved is also as simple as attending our meetings.  Meetings are a great way to learn about the issues in our community, hear from local agencies and elected officials, and meet our board members.

Our general board meetings are usually on the second Tuesday of every month starting at 6:30 p.m.

You are entitled to make public comment on any non-agendized topic you wish or on a particular item on the meeting’s agenda.  Alert us of any issues in your neighborhood, make an announcement for your event, or let us know what’s on your mind.

Attend our committee meetings!

Committee meetings are more informal than our board meetings and frequently take place on a monthly basis.  Our standing committees vary by subject matter ranging from transportation and streetscape issues to public safety to issues regarding land use and development within Mid City West’s boundaries.  Our board also has numerous ad hoc committees designed to tackle specific projects.

Just like general board meetings, you are entitled to make public comment on any non-agendized topic you wish or on a particular item on the meeting’s agenda.

Check our calendar, browse through our committee pages, and pick and choose a committee meeting that interests you!

Join our committees!

You can take a step further by joining one of our committees.  You can volunteer and participate in our committees’ activities.  Also, each standing committee has one or more stakeholder seats available.  These positions are non-elected seats and allow you to vote on any committee matters.

Our committees are always looking for people who are as passionate about our community as we are.  Please join us!

Run to be a Board Member

The process to become a neighborhood council member is a big step to serving our community and the City of Los Angeles.

Neighborhood council board members serve a two-year term and are publicly elected by the stakeholders within Mid City West’s boundaries.

Neighborhood council board members are required to complete ethics, finance, and code of conduct training and are governed by local and state law. Neighborhood council board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings and are required to serve on at least one committee.

Occasionally, board seats may become vacant, so check our website frequently and sign up onto our email list for updates on any board seat availability.
