The Mid City West Neighborhood Council is sponsoring a “Shop Local” campaign this holiday season!
We encourage residents and community stakeholders to do their holiday shopping at our local small businesses rather than online or at big-box stores!
We support local small businesses because we understand that these businesses yield benefits for our entire community. Money spent at locally-owned businesses returns significantly more to the neighborhood economy than money spent at national chains.
In addition, small businesses play a key role in maintaining the vitality of our streetscape and the “neighborliness” of our neighborhoods. And small local businesses that residents can walk to create a much lighter environmental footprint than big-box stores and e-tailers.
Are you a resident or stakeholder looking for ways to support small businesses? Look for our “Shop Local!” logo on area store windows and social media. When you visit our area businesses, stop and take a photo and tag them with the #shopmidcitywest hashtag.
Are you a local business owner interested in receiving a free window cling displaying the “Shop Local!” logo, or using our logo in your own advertising? Email Valerie Washburn, MCWNC Economic Development Committee Chair, at vwashburn@midcitywest.org.
